    Mauritius Aquarium

    Situated in the charming small village in the North West of Mauritius, the Mauritius Aquarium is home to a large number of species including over 150 species of fish, invertebrates and live corals originating from the waters around the island.

    Enjoy a leisurely stroll through the five well laid out principal buildings surrounded by a tropical garden, allowing you to discover the rich aquatic life which inhabits the coastal waters of Mauritius. The various species of marine life are grouped in well-lit tanks and pools which makes it possible to observe, at eye-level, a truly fantastic and enchanting sight of the marine ecosystem of the island.

    You will also have the possibility of attending the feeding sessions, including Giant Morays, sharks and sea turtles, within arm’s reach, being fed by hand, along with a question & answer session with an expert aquarist who will guide you through the richness of our largely diverse coral reef.

The Mauritius Aquarium offers a unique experience through five well laid out principal buildings surrounded by a tropical garden, that allow you to discover the rich aquatic life which inhabits the coastal waters of Mauritius. The various species of marine life are grouped in well-lit tanks and pools which makes it possible to observe, at eye-level, the endless ballet enacted by our island surrounding ecosystem.

You will get to see the Crown squirrelfish and the Devil Firefish as well as a number of sharks. Also, get ready to see neon bright, glowing yellows, fluorescent greens, purples and other amazing colors you probably didn’t believe could be found in any marine wildlife.

Additionally, you will have the possibility of witnessing the unique Shark feeding session, including Giant Morays, sharks and sea turtles, within arm’s reach, being fed by hand at 11:00 a.m. and 03:00 p.m. A question & answer session with an expert aquarist is also available to provide you with more information about the marine life surrounding the island.

The Aquarium has adopted an ecologically-friendly system, known as a closed system, which involves the treatment and recycling of the seawater in the circuit linking the tanks, thus minimizing the environmental impact of the installation and its operation.

The complex also includes the refreshing Coral Café and a well-appointed Gift Shop, to help make your visit to the Mauritius Aquarium, a pleasant experience.

  • Mondays to Saturdays: 9:30 to 17:00
  • Sundays & Public holidays: 10:00 to 16:00
